1. Observed from the ground, this phenomenon is known as noctilucent clouds . 2. Night clouds or "'noctilucent clouds "'are tenuous cloud-like phenomena in the upper atmosphere. 3. The CARE will be the first space viewing of an artificial noctilucent cloud . 4. Noctilucent clouds may be confused with cirrus clouds, but appear sharper under magnification.5. Noctilucent clouds may occasionally take on more of a red or orange hue.6. The SHIMMER instrument has previously viewed natural noctilucent clouds for the past two years. 7. Noctilucent clouds are wavy, bluish-white clouds that form at rarefied altitudes near 50 miles.8. Like noctilucent clouds , nacreous clouds are rare for our latitude here in South Florida. 9. Comprised of tiny ice particles, noctilucent clouds are so thin that stars shine brightly through them. 10. On June 22, 50 miles in the sky over Boulder, a silver-bluish noctilucent cloud drifted overhead.
